C & C Introduced Digital Asset Management System

The Hong Kong Book Fair launches on 17 July, 2013. Sino United Publishing (Holdings) Limited held a press conference 2 days before the Fair and presented the latest news of its member companies.

As a group member of Sino United Publishing (Holdings) Ltd., C&C introduced its Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) to the media and the publishers.

    Creating Publishing Innovation with IT

“Content is King!” How true is it? Only having content may not necessarily make you the king. How fast you can make the maximum use of the content to be published across multi-media on multi-platforms will make a big difference.

Mr. Jackson LEUNG, CEO of C&C, was introducing C&C’s Digital Asset Management System (DAMS) to the media and the publishers

DAMS is designed to quickly transform different formats of content into text and graphics accommodating videos and audios clips in the form of well-organized database embedded with metadata for input-once and output-many. The database can be modified and enhanced anytime through the internet connection. The database can also be extracted and reorganized for reprints, new editions, or even new titles. It greatly reduces the cycle time required for editing and publishing.

Besides facilitating the printing of hardcopy books, it can be used to create edited content for publishing on websites with interactive elements and electronic trading. It can also generate various formats of e-books to be viewed on computers, tablets, and smart phones breaking the boundary barriers for publishing and distribution. Book sales could be done 24 hours a day and 7 days a week on the internet. It can also help to publish e-textbooks to facilitate e-learning for institutions promoting education and cultural heritage, not to mention corporate training. All contents on the system are well-protected by Digital Right Management.

C & C Joint Printing Company (H.K.) Limited and Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) jointly developed the DAMS in about three years catering for the needs of the local industry in Hong Kong with funding support from the Innovation and Technology Commission of HKSAR Government.

The products of Spring | The Innovative Workshop were also presented in the press conference.

More products will be on sale at Booth #3F-A04 & A06 in the Hong Kong Book Fair 2013. For details, please contact Ms. Wong ( cherry.wong@candcprinting.com ).
