This prize was created in 1955 by Albert Plecy, and is awarded every year to a photography book published in France by a jury of photojournalists and publishing experts. The prize namesake Nadar, was the pseudonym of Gaspard-Felix Tournachon, a French photographer who lived from 1820 to 1910. The Nadar prize has recongnized celebrities like Henri Cartier-Bresson in 2006 and Raymond Depardon in 2000.
